An Independent Football Ombudsman (IFO) has officially contacted the English Premier League (EPL) about the proposed takeover of Newcastle United, according to The Chronicle.
As per the outlet, Professor Derek Fraser has now made contact with the EPL and its chief executive Richard Masters to try and get some answers as to why the prospective £300m deal between Mike Ashley and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabian (KSA) group fell through.

Indeed, the Saudi-led consortium, which consisted of the Middle Eastern crown prince Mohammed bin Salman (MbS), his country’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), businesswoman/head of PCP Capital Partners Amanda Staveley and the billionaire Reuben brothers, decided to withdraw their own bid following their increasing frustrations with the EPL and its CEO over how long it was taking for them to make their final decision.
Nevertheless, following added encouragement from Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Fraser has now talked to the EPL about their whole takeover process as members of the Toon Army eagerly await the results.
The Premier League have been under pressure to come up with some answers, not least from an ongoing petition set up by Newcastle fans to get an independent investigation into their takeover process, which has so far received more than 100,000 signatures.

Whether the EPL and Masters himself react is another question, but all of the attention is now on them to come up with an explanation as the pressure for answers continues to grow stronger by the day.
