Newcastle scouts thought to have watched Diego Llorente

Newcastle United will likely head into the transfer market this January to make some additions to strengthen their squad.

Rafa Benitez has started to see his side turn some solid performances into good results, with the Magpies having been able to record back-to-back victories against two of the Premier League’s impressive sides.

And, it appears that the Spaniard has a centre-back on his radar as a possible option to help bolster his defensive ranks.

According to Scouts in Attendance, they have stated that Newcastle may have had a scout watching Diego Llorente whilst on international duty.

The 25-year-old Real Sociedad defender was in action for Spain in their 1-0 win against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Sunday and played for the entirety of the match.

With Florian Lejeune still some way away from being fit and available, Benitez is believed to be keen on adding defensive options to his back line.

The Verdict:

Newcastle will certainly want to add a few additions to the squad in the winter and Llorente could be an excellent signing.

The defender has been impressing for Real Sociedad but has seen his appearances limited this season with an injury concern.

However, it is also understood that a number of Premier League clubs, via Cadena SER, could be interested in the 25-year-old, whilst also remains to be seen if Newcastle will splash out on the defender.
