Jermain Defoe’s appreciation at White Hart Lane has been up and down to put it mildly. Yes, there has been injury but he’s a professional and between him and Peter Crouch they’ve actually been so poor they’ve made Pavlyuchenko look half decent.
Defoe of course is the man who was great, then went off the boil, was sold to Portsmouth, then looked like dynamite, bought back, had a flutter and then went to seed again.
In the interim, both Newcastle United and Sunderland have had their goalscorers sold from underneath them. Andy Carroll and Darren Bent have naturally cast long shadows…
To my mind, the logical move for any of Tottenham’s current ‘strike force’ is to move on in a reputation saving exercise for all concerned. There is something about Tottenham (which I can’t explain) that is preventing their 3 front men from making any real impact.
Bruce and Pardew have been sitting on lumps of money since January and it’s difficult to believe they’ll hesitate when it comes to making an approach for a proven Premiership goal scorer.
If I had to call it between the two, I’d say Jermain who opt for Toon.
