Plenty of Newcastle United fans have been discussing former West Ham United and Everton player now pundit Tony Cottee’s comments on the potential new owners wanting Champions League football.
Speaking to Sky Sports (via ChronicleLive), the 54-year old claimed that any potential buyers would probably like the Tyneside club to eventually play in Europe’s elite competition, but admits that the whole process would take time and patience.

He added that the Magpies should always be looking to be in the top 10 of the Premier League every season, and maybe even break into the established ‘top six’. Traditionally over the last few years this has consisted of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, but not in that order. Leicester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers have broken that trend this campaign, but whether they both stay there is another question.
These members of the Toon faithful discussed Cottee’s comments on Twitter, with one NUFC supporter reminding him that Mike Ashley still owns the club as it stands:

A couple of top drawer strikers, wing backs and a midfield general would go a long way
