According to a report from journalist Alan Nixon via the Chronicle [16:11], the Magpies were believed to have been haggling over the price for Strasbourg midfielder Ibrahima Sissoko – but an update from Lee Ryder appears to have quashed the idea that they were after the player in the first place.
Sissoko, who has started 13 games for the Ligue 1 outfit this season, contributing to their relatively stable mid-table placing, was allegedly attracting interest from the Magpies, who were apparently trying to haggle down the £13 million asking price (Nixon via Chronicle [16:11]. However, with an update from Ryder on Twitter confirming that no enquiry has been made, fans are starting to run out of patience mid-way through the window. Compared to current Magpies defensive midfielder Isaac Hayden, Sissoko brings a better pass success rate of 84.2%, while the Englishman reigns superior in terms of tackles per game, as per WhoScored.com.
Despite their level playing field when it comes to statistics, Newcastle fans are still not pleased they are potentially missing out on another player – find all of their reactions down below.

Probably because he isn’t available for loan and won’t do $D marketing appearances as part of any contract🙄#nufc

Oh dear.
Here’s a treble for you Lee.
1-We don’t sign any first team player in the window.
2- Carroll doesn’t score all season.
3 We don’t get relegated.
Put a fiver on that.— Gdublar (@Garywilson3) January 15, 2020
Who have we missed out on then so far or made offers for then? Sounds like we haven’t actually formally done anything at this point?

That’s normal for us 15 days into a transfer window.
