Newcastle United: Fans respond to takeover tweet from NUFC 360

Plenty of Newcastle United fans have responded to a takeover tweet from NUFC 360 on their Twitter page as they posted some information with the caption ‘facts’.

Amongst the hot topics touched upon were Mike Ashley attempting to change the Tyneside club’s stadium name to promote Sports Direct, but perhaps the key statement was that the supporters do not have a say in blocking or approving of the prospective takeover at St. James’ Park.

Indeed, whether or not the deal goes through is in the hands of the Premier League at the moment, as they must decide whether the Saudi-led consortium trying to buy the club will pass the owners’ and directors’ tests set out by them.

If the bid is approved by the Premier League, then it will effectively end Ashley’s 13-year ownership of the club, with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS), businesswoman Amanda Staveley and the billionaire Reuben brothers all taking up their positions on the board.
