According to a report from Sport Bild, as translated by the Daily Mail, Newcastle United could be in a race with Arsenal and Southampton to sign Hoffenheim midfielder Florian Grillitsch, with the player currently valued at around £21.1m for Premier League suitors.
Grillitsch, who has started 19 Bundesliga games for Hoffenheim this season, helping them climb the table to within two points of a potential European qualifying spot, is currently being watched by the English club trio according to Bild. A figure who could potentially add a greater presence in central midfield, something loan signing Nabil Bentaleb was presumably brought in to add, Grillitsch has managed to be dribbled past fewer times on average this season than the Algerian (1.2), as per WhoScored, potentially highlighting the defensive solidarity he could bring in midfield.
However, given his £21.1m release clause, there has been a mixed reaction to the rumours online from Magpies supporters, with one fan even claiming he could be ‘Joelinton phase 2‘.
