Many Newcastle fans reacted to a post from the club’s official Twitter account showing footage of Florian Lejeune’s match-saving double against Everton in January.
The 28-year-old scored two goals in extra time to complete an incredible comeback at Goodison Park (The Times).
Lejeune has suffered from an injury-hit season this year and bounced back from two anterior cruciate ligament tears on both knees to ensure the Magpies came away from Merseyside with a well-earned point (Northern Echo).
The Frenchman has only made 6 appearances in the Premier League under Steve Bruce this term. Lejeune moved to Tyneside from Spanish side SD Eibar in the 2017 summer transfer window for a reported fee of £9m. He has also played for a number of sides including Manchester City, Villarreal and Girona (Transfermarkt).
Lejeune came off the bench as a substitute to net an incredible acrobatic finish to halve the 2-0 deficit before adding an equaliser with the very last kick of the match.
As expected loads of Geordies shared their reactions online, with one fan dubbing the final few minutes as “amazing” whilst another said it was the “moment of the season.”

This was all the more impressive when you realise that Lejeune was injured in that first goal and hasn’t played since, he stayed on to get the second. #nufc
