According to The Daily Mail, Celtic defender Jozo Simunovic is a target for Crystal Palace and Newcastle United, with our resident Magpies and Eagles fans here in the Transfer Tavern impressed with what they’ve seen from him this season.
Indeed, the verdict from the Celtic fans by the bar is one of general praise with the Croatian U21 international putting in a number of impressive displays for the Bhoys this season so far.
The centre-half actually looked set to move to Torino in the summer alongside Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart but the deal fell through, with suggestions that the Turin side were concerned about his injury record.
This season, though, he has played five games at the back for the Glasgow club leading to apparent interest from Palace and Newcastle.
Palace signed centre-half James Tomkins in the summer but have seen Scott Dann troubled by injury this season whilst at the back for Newcastle, Simunovic would have to battle the likes of Ciaran Clark and Grant Hanley to partner captain Jamaal Lascelles in defence.
Our landlord here in the Transfer Tavern thinks that this would be an incredibly astute signing for either Newcastle or Crystal Palace, and thinks that the defender is only going to get better as a footballer.
