MP for Gateshead Ian Mearns has accused some clubs in the Premier League of wanting to prevent the proposed £300m takeover of Newcastle United by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) group from happening.
Speaking to The Chronicle, the season ticket holder at the St. James’ Park faithful said:
“There does seem to be areas of vested interest within the Premier League from within some clubs which seem hellbent on preventing this takeover from happening.”
Fans of the Tyneside club can write to their local MPs like Mearns asking for more clarity and transparency in terms of why exactly the prospective deal between Mike Ashley and the KSA consortium was failed by the English top flight, with the hopeful view that the bid could eventually get back on track.

The KSA may have to think about allowing the legal broadcast of beIN Sports in their country to soften their ties with Qatar as well as England’s highest division given their disputes over piracy.
In addition, the ongoing legal battle between the Magpies and the EPL will likely have to go to an arbitration hearing in front of a judge, leading to the decision as to where exactly the takeover goes from there.
