Steve Bruce has revealed that Jamaal Lascelles is ‘a doubt’ for Newcastle United ahead of their game away at Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
Although Callum Wilson will be fit and Matt Ritchie and Jonjo Shelvey are both fine and will feature, there is no doubt that the club captain could be a big miss ahead of their trip to Roy Hodgson’s team.
Is Lascelles a key player for Newcastle?
Lascelles would be a big miss
If Lascelles were unable to make the match, then it would be a big blow for the St. James’ Park faithful.
Not only does he bring leadership qualities both on the pitch and in the dressing room as the club’s captain, but his displays so far in the 2020/21 term in the top flight have been very solid.
The central defender has won no fewer than 3.1 of his duels per game and has also averaged a rather impressive 4.6 clearances a match (Sofascore).
If the Tyneside club are to have any chance of keeping a clean sheet away at Selhurst Park, then Lascelles would have surely been a key player in helping them achieve that.
The 27 year-old has not been ruled out as of yet, but the fact that he is a doubt for the clash will surely have members of the Toon Army sweating.
