A source with inside knowledge of Steve Bruce's situation has claimed that the manager may now quit Newcastle United.

The Lowdown: Bad start

There is no dressing up the reality that the Magpies have had a bad start to the season, with no wins and a mere three points from their first six games in the Premier League leaving them 17th in the table.

The Latest: Bruce claim

Speaking to Football Insider, a source with knowledge of Bruce’s situation has now claimed that the 60-year-old is feeling 'really down' and 'lower than ever before' as the pressures of his job pile up.

The former Aston Villa and Sunderland manager is reportedly 'tired' of taking the brunt of the fans’ anger, as well as continued dissatisfaction over the ownership of Mike Ashley.

Bruce believes that he is taking all the flak from the supporters and the media despite doing the job with one hand tied behind his back, and he is apparently now thinking of quitting.

The Verdict: Change could help

The 60-year-old seemingly does not have the motivation to want to do the job anymore, so a change of scenery for both him and Newcastle could well help in order to try and drive them forward.

Some of the players have already expressed their anger towards him for his training methods, so a change in manager may be what's needed to alleviate the apparent hostility.

Nonetheless, Bruce needs to find a way of picking up results fast, or else the Tyneside club risk being involved in yet another relegation battle.
