Rangers, Sheffield Wednesday, Nottingham Forest and Stoke City are in a four-way race to sign Newcastle United ace Jacob Murphy, according to Football Insider.
As per the outlet, the Tyneside club are set to loan out the winger out again for the new 2020/21 season following his rather successful loan spell at the Owls down in the EFL Championship, where he scored a total of nine goals and made a further six assists in 39 matches in all competitions (per Transfermarkt).

Comparing Murphy’s stats to the likes of Allan Saint-Maximin, Christian Atsu and Miguel Almiron in the Premier League in the 2019/20 term, the Englishman averaged more crosses and netted more times than all of them combined, (via Whoscored).
In fact, Murphy outscored all of his teammates in the North East with his nine goals, with the next best being Almiron with eight strikes across all competitions, according to Transfermarkt.
Yes, there is a difference in quality between England’s second division and the top flight, but it is still relatively impressive considering that Murphy mainly operated from the wing.
Nevertheless, it looks as if the Magpies will shift the 25-year old out on loan again in order to continue his development, with the hope that he will come back even stronger and perhaps challenge for a spot in the first team under Steve Bruce.

Another loan down to the Championship seems possible, or Murphy may want to test himself in the Scottish Premiership under Liverpool and England legend Steven Gerrard, but one thing for sure is that he will want to continue to hit the ground running wherever he ends up.
