Newcastle United: Steve Bruce decision to work on the ‘basics’ in training have many Magpies fans in uproar

Responding to Chronicle journalist Lee Ryder’s update on how manager Steve Bruce will address the ‘major concern‘ of failing to find the back of the net since late January, many Magpies supporters have been in uproar over the decision to return to ‘basics‘.

Bruce, who has so far guided Newcastle to a lowly 14th place in the Premier League table, has enjoyed decent results against the likes of Man United, Man City and Tottenham this season. However, in the last few weeks, his side have failed to score a league goal since their dramatic 2-2 draw at Everton in late January. Now, according to Ryder, Bruce plans to work on the ‘basics’ in training ahead of their clash with Burnley on Saturday at St. James’ Park – mainly referring to their finishing in the final third. Responding to Ryder’s update, many Newcastle fans have taken the opportunity to slate Bruce – with one fan even suggesting that they ‘sack him‘.
