Newcastle United: The Toon Army discusses Martin Dubravka

After an absolute shocker from Aston Villa’s Pepe Reina, loads of Newcastle fans have been singing the praises of goalkeeper Martin Dubravka. One supporter dubbed the 31-year-old as the “bargain of the century.”

Dubravka moved to St. James’ Park from AC Sparta Praha for a mere £3.6m in July 2018. Since, the ‘keeper has appeared in 80 games for the Magpies and kept 24 clean sheets in all competitions so far (Transfermarkt).

According to the official Premier League website, the Slovakian tops the charts for the most total saves and errors leading to goals in the English top tier this season. Indeed, Dubravka has made a staggering 117 saves in 29 appearances for the Tyneside club.

Although Dubravka has marginally made more errors leading to goals than Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, the Magpies stopper has a higher rating on WhoScored at 6.84.
