Not all good: Aston Villa have been great lately, but these 2 players have struggled – agreed?

Dean Smith has really revitalised Aston Villa, and that bodes well for the rest of the season. They had a tough campaign, and he’s given the club the boost that it so desperately needed.

After a difficult start to the season, with nobody looking particularly good, a handful of individuals are now impressing at Villa Park, and that’s fantastic news for the Villains.

Negativity seems to have disappeared, and now everyone is feeling very confident.

However, whilst many individuals are now performing far better than they were previously, the same cannot be said for everyone. Indeed, there are still a few players that could really help the cause far more than they are at present.

With that said, Aston Villa have been great, but these 2 players definitely haven’t – agreed?

Scott Hogan

Scott Hogan’s spell at Aston Villa has been nothing short of a disaster so far.

Despite moving to Villa Park on the back of a great spell of form for Brentford, he’s not even come close to that level since. He’s bagged just 7 league goals so far in Villa colours, and that’s just not good enough.

Not a single one of those goals has come this season, and it’s evident that Dean Smith doesn’t rate him. He’s not made a single start this term.

Tammy Abraham has come in and seriously outshone Hogan, and he’ll need a miracle to turn it around.

Glenn Whelan

Glenn Whelan started the season pretty well, but it’s clear that he’s struggled as of late.

He’s not been terrible by any means, but he’s been far below the level that we all know he can reach.

Central midfield is such an important position, and if a player is to be selected in the role, he can’t afford an off-day. Unfortunately, Whelan has just had too many of those this term.

He hasn’t played 90 minutes since October, and that indicates that he’s not playing well enough.

Showing moments of flair, consistency is desperately needed.
