Nottingham Forest secured a huge 1-0 win over Aston Villa in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final on Thursday, with Chris Wood’s penalty proving the difference.
That result gives them a valuable edge heading into the return leg at Villa Park — and keeps alive the dream of Champions League football next season.
Should they go all the way, a place among Europe’s elite would demand serious squad investment. And it looks like Forest aren’t waiting around to get started.
Forest Submit Bid for Archie Brown
Nottingham Forest have made an official offer for Archie Brown, submitting a bid of around €16 million to Fenerbahçe S.K. for the left-sided defender, according to A Sport in Turkey.
The 23-year-old has impressed since arriving from Gent earlier this season, contributing four goals and seven assists in 36 appearances — form that has quickly caught the attention of clubs abroad.
However, Forest’s opening proposal is expected to fall short. Fenerbahce are holding out for closer to €18 million, aiming to double their initial investment after signing Brown for €9 million last summer. With a contract running until 2028, the Turkish side are under no pressure to sell.
Despite already having options at left-back, Forest appear keen on adding a different profile to their defensive ranks. Brown’s attacking output and versatility could offer something new, particularly if the club is preparing for the added demands of European football.
For now, the gap between the two clubs isn’t vast — but whether Forest are willing to push further may depend on how their season concludes.
