Nottingham Forest set to offer “fantastic” midfielder new contract once he returns from World Cup

Nottingham Forest managed to preserve their Premier League status for another season, but it was far from a comfortable ride.

A turbulent campaign saw four different managers take charge, lengthy dips in form and genuine fears of relegation at various stages.

Ultimately, though, a strong finish to the season helped steer the club to safety, with Morgan Gibbs-White leading the charge after scoring 15 Premier League goals.

Forest are now looking to build on that momentum rather than face another survival battle next year, and one of the players who played a major role in their turnaround could soon be rewarded.

Forest to Offer Sangare New Deal

Nottingham Forest are preparing to open talks with Ibrahim Sangare over a new contract once he returns from the World Cup with Ivory Coast, according to Football Insider.

The midfielder, previously described as “fantastic” by Theo Walcott, has become an increasingly important figure at the City Ground and is viewed as a key part of the club’s plans moving forward.

Forest are keen to reward the 28-year-old for his performances this season while also protecting themselves against growing transfer interest.

Both Manchester United and Besiktas have reportedly been monitoring Sangare’s situation, but Forest have no desire to sanction a sale and instead want to secure his long-term future.

Club chiefs believe the former PSV Eindhoven star will remain a vital player under Vitor Pereira next season and are determined to strengthen the squad this summer rather than lose established first-team talent.

With Forest hoping for a calmer campaign in 2026/27, tying Sangare down to fresh terms appears to be high on their list of priorities.

Ivory Coast’s campaign is one of the more intriguing stories in the World Cup outright this summer, with players like Sangare central to their chances of making a deep run.

After a difficult season, Nottingham Forest are eager to keep the foundations of their squad intact. Offering Sangare a new contract would not only reward a key performer but also send a clear message that the club intends to move forward rather than risk losing some of its most influential players.
