It’s been a strange week for the Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern, who’ve been dragged through a rollercoaster ride of emotions.
Having watched their beloved Magpies ensure an immediate return to the Premier League on Monday night, there was yet more off the field turmoil following an HMRC investigation.
Meanwhile, the Tyneside drinkers have once again had to deal with suggestions manager Rafa Benitez could still leave. So, it’s fair to say the Toon Army in the Tavern have seen it all this week.
Well, at least they thought they had. Some of the more eagle-eyed punters have recently spotted reports emanating out of Italy linking the Magpies with a shock move to re-sign Moussa Sissoko from Tottenham Hotspur.
Having left St. James’ Park under a cloud over the course of the summer, the Frenchman has struggled to convince he’s at all worth the big money Spurs splashed out on him, so the reports were always likely to spark quite the reaction amongst the Toon Army.
With that in mind, here’s a closer look at it.
So Santon and Sissoko have both been linked with us? Feel like I've gone back in time, Pardew isn't our manager, right? #NUFC

The press must be running out of players to link us with, Santon and Sissoko coming back supposedly #NUFC

I don’t know what’s funnier, us being wrapped up in this Lee Chanley soap opera or the cut back price return of sissoko #nufc
