Newcastle United are set to make a move for Givanildo Vieira de Souza otherwise known as “Hulk” after owner Mike Ashley announced all of the £35 million received from the Andy Carroll sale would be reinvested in the squad.
The first priority will be to find a new number 9 and FC Porto’s Hulk fits the bill. Manager Alan Pardew has identified Hulk as a player who can be a success in the Premier League. The player would cost anything up to £25 million, but Pardew believes he would be worth every penny.
The 24 year old Brazilian made a fine start to the season with 16 goals in 16 appearances helping Porto rise to the top of the league. The English style would certainly suit Hulk’s style of play; strong, quick, a powerful shot and a few tricks up his sleeve makes him very unpredictable.
It is believed Hulk could be tempted to the Premier League, the chance to put his name on a bigger stage would excite the star. If Ashley is true to his word then Newcastle would be a team heading in the right direction with plenty of transfer funds. The speculation surrounding the move would certainly excite Geordie fans and lift the gloom of the Carroll transfer, it just remains to be seen whether Ashley can put his money were his mouth is.
