West Ham: Irons interested in signing Pedro

West Ham United are now interested in signing Flamengo striker Pedro, according to a new report.

The Lowdown: West Ham’s striker issues

West Ham signed Gianluca Scamacca for £35.5m in the summer, but he has hardly been prolific, scoring just three times in 16 Premier League outings, while he has also recently been struggling with a knee injury.

Danny Ings was brought in during the January transfer window, but given that he is now 30, a more long-term option may be desired by David Moyes.

The Latest: Pedro eyed

According to Spanish sources (via Caught Offside), the Hammers are interested in signing Pedro at the end of this season, but he will not come cheap.

It is detailed that the Brazilian club could demand as much as €40m (£35m) to allow the striker to leave, given that he is contracted until 2027, which means they are under no pressure to sell.

The Verdict: Get it done?

Hailed as being an ‘excellent finisher’ by Guy Mowbray, the 25-year-old has been in prolific form for Flamengo so far this season, scoring nine goals in just seven games in all competitions.

Dimitri Payet

Dimitri Payet proved to be a West Ham bargain - how much did GSB pay for his services?

The marksman is clearly highly thought of by his national side Brazil, given that former manager Tite chose to take him to the World Cup, even managing to make two appearances in Qatar, despite the wealth of attacking options available for the Selecao.

With Scamacca misfiring, and Michail Antonio failing to reach his previous heights, scoring just two goals in the Premier League this season, it is evident that Moyes needs a new forward, and Pedro’s goal record indicates he would fit the bill perfectly.
