Southampton fans here in the Tavern have begun to drink their sorrows away, as they look to be slipping towards possible relegation.
The Saints are looking worse for wear after a poor run of form has seen them on the brink of dropping into the bottom-three, as the Argentine is still yet to find the right formula at St Mary’s this season.
Although, for a side that’s now into their sixth consecutive Premier League season, fans are hoping that their beloved Saints can continue to live life with some of England’s finest.
Indeed, if Mauricio Pellegrino’s side are to avoid the dreaded relegation zone then there’s going to need to be some movement. Although now into the second half of the window without making their first signing, it’s causing for desperate measures on the south coast.
As a team with one of the worst goalscoring records in the Premier League, the need for a couple of attacking signings at St Mary’s is becoming a must for Pellegrino.
With the sale of Virgil Van Dijk providing the club with a whole heap of funds, they’ll need to use it wisely with their top-flight status at stake.
Nevertheless, here’s a look at TWO stars that Pellegrino needs Les Reed to bring to Southampton before the window closes…
Jozo Simunovic

The 23-year-old has enjoyed his breakthrough season this year since joining Celtic back in 2015, as a rising star in the Hoops’ ranks as their main central-defender.
Just as Southampton love to offload their player’s to Liverpool, Celtic love to do the same with the Saints after sending Virgil Van Dijk their way earlier on in his career.
So, having seen the Dutchman become the most expensive defender in football history, why not take a punt on a young defender who’s already shown glimpses of quality against the world’s best in the Champions League.
A player who would be well suited to the Premier League.
Guido Carillo
The 26-year-old looks to be one of the next big things out of Monaco, with his performances so far this season rewarding him with the possibility of a move to the Premier League.
Guido Carillo can guarantee you goals, and that’s something that Southampton have struggled to produce this season as Charlie Austin leads the way with just over five goals to his name.
Therefore, in a league that’s seen former Monaco player Anthony Martial prosper from a move to the English top-flight, the Argentinian will be looking to follow in those footsteps.
And, the Saints are reportedly in talks with the AS Monaco forward as they go on in search of a proven goal-scorer.
