Tottenham supporters in the Transfer Tavern are eagerly anticipating their side’s Premier League clash with second place Manchester United this evening, with the North London outfit knowing that victory would move them back to within two points of fourth place Liverpool.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men avoided a major FA Cup upset at the weekend by leaving it late to seal a 1-1 draw away at League Two side Newport County, but prior to that they had won four and drawn two of their six Premier League matches. Yet Spurs saw Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool move five points clear of them with a 3-0 success at Huddersfield Town on Tuesday night, thus piling the pressure on Pochettino’s side ahead of their meeting with Jose Mourinho’s in-form United at Wembley this evening.
Consequently, many of our resident Tottenham fans are relishing tonight’s encounter, while they are also keeping one eye on transfer deadline day, and what deals their team could seek to strike in the last knockings of the winter window.
Yet one man who has recently been linked with a move away from the club is winger Erik Lamela, who has reportedly been subject of interest from Pochettino’s former employers Southampton given their likely inability to bring Quincy Promes to St Mary’s before tonight’s deadline.
And Argentina international Lamela is the man Saints chief Mauricio Pellegrino has reportedly turned his attentions to, in news which has stimulated quite a reaction from Spurs fans on Twitter…

As much as he polarises opinion would be very upset to see Spurs sanction any kind of move which would see Lamela leave the club today. Apart from Eriksen he is one of the few players in our squad that can create an opportunity of seemingly nothing. #COYS#THFC
