Mauricio Pochettino’s name has been on the lips of the Spurs contingent here in the Transfer Tavern this past week, after the Argentinean boss masterminded a 2-0 defeat of Chelsea to give the supporters bragging rights over their London rivals.

The Spurs took some time to settle this season but with influential talisman Harry Kane now back in the team and scoring goals, there is a real sense that the campaign can still be a successful one for the club.

Although Spurs have a decent team they are probably some way behind their rivals in terms of boasting squad members to stand-in for injuries or suspensions, with many of the fans present in the Tavern believing that their boss must strengthen during the current transfer window.

The Brazilian striker has been in fine form for Gremio, netting six goals so far this term and 53 in total since arriving at the club in 2014.

European football beckons for the 23-year-old and there is no reason why Spurs cannot secure the player’s signature this January.

One Spurs fan is having a game of pool here in the Tavern and he is happy to think that the club are monitoring a player with such potential.

Javier Hernandez

The ex-Manchester United striker has been in fine form playing for Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, netting nine goals so far during the 2016/17 campaign.

Hernandez is exactly the sort of player who would fit into Tottenham’s team and boss Pochettino would be mad not to consider him as a potential signing.

One Spurs fan is sat at the bar supping a pint of cider and she thinks that Spurs could do a whole lot worse than Hernandez, although she does concede that any striker who arrives at White Hart Lane is likely to play second fiddle to in-form Kane.
