Tottenham fans here in the Tavern are still yet to get over the disappointment of Wednesday night’s Champions League exit, after losing 2-1 to Italian giants Juventus in their round of 16 tie.
Spurs were hoping to go all the way in this season’s European competition, as they looked to improve on group stage victories against Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund with another upset in the knockout stages. Indeed, the Lilywhites were looking like an unstoppable force after coming back from a two-goal deficit to draw 2-2 in the first-leg against Juventus, but a poor second half performance at Wembley on Wednesday night saw the London club crash out in a disappointing manner.
Encouragingly, Mauricio Pochettino can still save Spurs’ season with qualification for next year’s Champions League competition, as a top-four spot is well within their grasp. Although, he may have to put all of his trust into a couple of the club’s youngsters to help bring success, with there being some evident improvements needed in the current Tottenham side.
Therefore, with nine games left in the Premier League and a shot at securing silverware in the FA Cup, here’s a look at TWO Tottenham youngsters that Mauricio Pochettino should trust to save their season…
Harry Winks
Harry Winks has established himself as one of the most exciting prospects in English football so far this season, with his high quality performances even earning him a first call-up to the England squad.
However, since returning from an ankle injury in February he’s struggled to make it back into Pochettino’s plans on a regular basis, after being left out of the squad in their last three Premier League matches.
Therefore, the Argentine really needs to start trusting the midfielder as a regular feature in the squad from here on in, having been one of the shining stars for Spurs so far this season.
Juan Foyth
Juan Foyth is one of Spurs’ most exciting young talents after making the move over from his home country Argentina in the summer, with some established performances being produced by the central defender so far.
And, it’s fair to say that he’s impressed his fellow countryman Mauricio Pochettino during his first season in North London, having featured in Europe and both cup competitions for the Lilywhites.
However, with the defender still waiting for his Premier League debut since joining the club, Pochettino should show some faith in the youngster by allowing him to play his part in the rest of their season.
