Amongst the punters in the Transfer Tavern, Mauricio Pochettino is a hugely popular figure following his impressive work with Tottenham Hotspur over the past few seasons.
The Argentine has endeared himself to many of our punters – other than the Arsenal supporting ones – by creating a vibrant young side at White Hart Lane, packed to the rafters with English talent. While the problems with the national side are well documented, he’s at least given a few of their burgeoning stars the platform to grow.
Which is why reports from the Daily Mirror have been met with such excitement amongst our north London locals. They claim the former Southampton coach could make a move for one of his former players in the shape of Manchester United defender Luke Shaw.
The 21-year-old has seen his progress stall under Jose Mourinho and looks as if he is way down the pecking order, despite a £27m move from the south coast in the summer of 2014. He’s struggled to fully regain his form following a horrific double leg break in September 2015 and doesn’t seem to be in the plans of the Portuguese.
With that in mind, Pochettino is reportedly considering a move as an alternative to Danny Rose, a hugely exciting notion for the Spurs fans in the bar.
Could Shaw find a new lease of life with Tottenham? Let us know below…
