The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern had gotten used to winning every single week until they hit a rather large fork in the road. It has been a very tough few weeks for the Lilywhites in the Premier League, with Mauricio Pochettino’s men unable to secure a win again over the weekend against Watford.

That result, of course, follows defeats at Arsenal and Leicester City, alongside a draw with West Brom. It has been a wretched run of form for the club, and at present, it is showing no signs of stopping.

Fortunately, the Champions League could offer some respite for the Lilywhites, given that it has been a competition that they have thrived in this season. This time around, against APOEL, they will be expected to pick up another win, and it could be just what they need to turn their form around.

Mauricio Pochettino, though, has some big calls to make as he looks to achieve that goal, with several players failing to impress during Tottenham’s barren spell. If he wants to win, they may need to lose their places.

With that said, Pochettino should drop these 2 Tottenham players against APOEL to help turn his side’s poor form around…

 Dele Alli

Dele Alli has had a tough season so far.

He’s shown his characteristic moments of brilliance, but more often than not, his form has been very poor.

Lacking the goals, determination and technique of last season, something is clearly affecting the Englishman’s form, and it’s up to Pochettino to work out what that is.

Until then, though, a spell on the sidelines could be needed.

 Ben Davies

Ben Davies has had a decent few weeks. To be honest, he’s had a very strong year, but his inclusion in the Tottenham first team over the last month or so has been surprising, to say the least.

Danny Rose is now back from injury, and it seems pretty obvious to our landlord which player offers more.

Davies lacks the offensive energy and delivery that Rose brings, and that has cost Tottenham over the last month or so. Davies is a strong defender, and he has come on leaps and bounds offensively over the last year, but Rose’s contributions are more significant. Perhaps the Welshman could find a role in the heart of the defence, rather than on its flanks.

In this instance, though, a seat on the bench makes sense.
