Pochettino should look to sign these 2 Portuguese players in January

Spurs have had a steady start to the campaign and going into the international break, there are few Spurs fans here in the Transfer Tavern that don’t believe their team will make the top-four…

They’re the only side that are unbeaten in the Premier League this season and if they could have converted some draws into victories, things would be looking even better for Pochettino’s side.

But at times, they’ve looked a little sloppy and despite maintaining their unbeaten start, a couple of those draws really could have been defeats on a different day.

And with January just around the corner, we want to look to see if there are any Portuguese players that might improve this Spurs squad…

Of course, they were this summer’s Euro 2016 winners and there was some serious talent in that side that we think would really fit in at White Hart Lane.

So with that in mind, here’s two Portuguese players that Pochettino should look to sign in January…

Ruben Neves

Neves

Perhaps the youngster making the biggest waves in Portuguese football right now is Ruben Neves, who plays in the midfield at Porto.

To say he’s talented is an absolute understatement. At just 19-years-old, he’s made over fifty appearances for his side and has been capped twice at senior level for the national Portuguese team.

At times, we’ve felt Spurs have been a little light on truly talented midfielders that can really move the ball around the pitch – and Ruben Neves would really fit that bill.

Diogo Jota

We’re sticking with Porto for our second pick too, and we’re going with Diogo Jota, another talented 19-year-old who has been impressing the world this season.

He was actually signed by Atletico Madrid this summer but loaned back to his former team for the season and he’s shone back at the Estadio Do Dragao.

A first-half hat-trick in an away triumph over CD Nacional really brought him to the public light and as the season continues, I’m sure we’ll see even more of what looks to be a truly talented player.

One for the future yes, but a player that has serious talent right now. Spurs should definitely take a look at Jota.
