Pochettino’s dream Tottenham Hotspur defence including Niklas Sule

The Tottenham fans in the Tavern are desperate for Sule to sign…

It came as a surprise to a few people in the Football Transfer Tavern when the Tottenham fans by the bar were talking up their excitement for a potential Spurs move for Germany defender Niklas Sule.

Many rival fans felt that given Tottenham’s defensive record so far this season, his signing would be a waste – but the Spurs’ fans in the Tavern tend to disagree.

They think Sule could fit straight into the Tottenham first team, and become a part of a new-look star-studded four man defence.

With that said, could this be Pochettino’s dream Spurs defence including Niklas Sule……

 LB – Danny Rose

Danny Rose has cemented his place on the left-hand side of Tottenham’s defence, and it is easy to see why.

Capable defensively and going forward, Rose has developed into quite the player – and he is only getting better and better.

A lack of alternative options mean that he will be forced to play week in, week out – but that won’t bother him.

At just 26-years-old, Rose is still developing as a player – and he could be a key part of this Tottenham team for years to come.

 CB – Toby Alderweireld

Bought for a bargain price a couple of years ago, Alderweireld is undoubtedly one of the best value signings of the last decade.

After a season at Southampton, the Belgian made the step up to Tottenham; and he grabbed his opportunity with both hands.

Superb in the air and with the ball at his feet, there really is nothing that he can’t do.

 CB – Niklas Sule

Niklas Sule has everything it takes to become a top level Premier League defender in the years to come.

He is technically gifted and can pick out a pass, but he is also strong in the air and in the tackle. There is absolutely no limit to how good he can become.

His only weakness is his pace, but he more than makes up for that with his outstanding ability to read the game.

At just 21-years-old – the best is yet to come from Sule – but he could make an immediate impact.

He will replace Vertonghen in this team, who has looked shaky in parts over the last year or – and at 29 years old, is nearing the end of his career at the highest level. He can still do a job of course, but in the long run – Sule is a better investment.

 RB – Kyle Walker

Like Danny Rose on the other side, it would be impossible to leave Kyle Walker out of this defense.

Walker has always been a good attacking full back, but in the last few years the Englishman has improved defensively – to the point where you can argue that he does not have a single bad trait.

He is the complete full-back, and his electric pace is a vital component of Tottenham’s attacking arsenal.

Like Rose, he is just 26 – so his best years are still ahead of him.
