Many Crystal Palace fans have remembered the great Don Rogers after the club’s Twitter account posted a video of one of his many great goals.
Has Gary Cahill been one of the signings of the summer?
With Don Rogers turning 74 today, the club reminded its fanbase of the brilliant winger by sharing a video of him beating a number of players on a muddy pitch before poking home the finish.
The left-winger is considered by many Palace fans as a ‘legend’ despite playing less than 100 games over less than three seasons at the club. His stats speak for themselves though, with Rogers scoring 15 goals both in the 72/73 season and the 73/74 season, according to Holmesdale.net, despite being a winger.
Many Palace fans will also remember Don Rogers for his sublime performance in Crystal Palace’s 5-0 win over Manchester United in 1972. The silky dribbler managed to score two goals in the game with two sublime bits of dribbling – as you can see from this YouTube video.
Many Palace fans responded to the tweet with their memories of the player. Have a read of some of them below…
He was so good, imagine what he could do on today’s pitches, with today’s footballs
