FSG simply must deliver Real Madrid star to Jurgen Klopp as a potential Coutinho replacement

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are concerned that Philippe Coutinho will leave the club for FC Barcelona in the January window.

Liverpool’s talisman Philippe Coutinho has been in brilliant form for the majority of this season despite the persistent speculation regarding his future on Merseyside. It was arguably football’s worst kept secret that the Catalan giants were pursuing the Brazilian playmaker’s signature last summer, and it seems unlikely that Barcelona’s initial failure will deter them from renewing their interest in January.

With that being said, Jurgen Klopp should be working in conjunction with FSG to identify a quality player who is worthy of replacing their crown jewel following his probable departure.

And according to reports in The Daily Star, Liverpool have already identified Real Madrid’s talent Dani Ceballos as a potential replacement for Coutinho, although they face competition from Arsenal to secure his signature.

Ceballos has been widely tipped to have an excellent future in European football and the 21-year-old Spaniard more than merited his move to Los Blancos from Real Betis last summer, but he has failed to break into Zinedine Zidane’s first-team plans since his arrival.

So far this season, Ceballos has made just 6 appearances in La Liga, scoring 2 goals in the process.

With the likes of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Matteo Kovacic all above the former Betis star in Zidane’s pecking order, it is likely that he will be searching for a move away from Madrid to acquire first-team football and boost his chances of selection for the World Cup in 2018.

Although Ceballos normally plays in the centre of midfield, he is more than capable of performing in a more advanced midfield role, and with the right guidance and first-team opportunities, he could become a fantastic asset for The Reds.

It would be foolish to assume that Ceballos is a ready-made replacement for Coutinho given that he is 4 years younger than the Brazilian, but his potential suggests that Liverpool should do everything they can to beat Arsenal to his signature in January.
