Leeds United striker Rodrigo has reportedly told the club he wants to leave this summer following a disappointing season at Elland Road.

The Spaniard arrived from Valencia last summer, costing £27m and becoming the most expensive signing in Leeds' history, as well as their highest earner on almost £58,000 per week.

Big things were expected of Rodrigo, but he has flattered to deceive in a Whites shirt, failing to match the level of expectations many had for him.

The 30-year-old has scored just three times in 20 Premier League appearances, highlighting how much he has struggled at Elland Road.

Rodrigo wants to leave Leeds

According to Fichajes [via Sport Witness], Rodrigo has decided he wants to exit Leeds this summer, asking the club to allow him to move on.

He is described as the 'failure of the season' in the report and it is unlikely that he will earn much playing time between now and the end of the campaign.

Transfer Tavern take

It is a real shame to see Rodrigo's move not work out, but injuries and poor form have seemingly put paid to his chances of being a regular under Marcelo Bielsa.

A move away from Leeds looks likely to benefit all parties this summer, bringing to an end one of the most disappointing transfers in the club's recent history.
