Leeds United look to already be planning their summer transfers and Ligue 1 midfielder Boubakary Soumare is the latest name to reportedly be on their radar.
The latest on Soumare
According to Football Insider, Leeds are looking to join the race to sign the Lille midfielder this summer. They are said to be eager to acquire a top quality central midfielder who can provide cover and competition for Kalvin Phillips and Mateusz Klich.
Would this be a good signing?
The 21 year-old, who is valued at £20.7 million, (Transfermarkt) was a product of the academy at Paris Saint-Germain, but since moving to Lille, he has finally been given his opportunity to prove himself at the top level.
Last summer, he was linked with moves to Manchester United and Arsenal, which perhaps shows the world class potential that some sides believe he has.
The defensive midfielder has made 30 appearances in all competitions this season, including seven in the Europa League, (WhoScored), and he has shown how he loves to get stuck in by managing 1.3 tackles and one interception on average per match.
One of his former coaches, Francois Rodrigues described him as a player who had “everything to succeed” in an interview with Le Parisien.
With plenty of interest in the player and with some big clubs seemingly believing that he has a good career ahead of him, Leeds should do everything they can to beat those other interested parties to the signing as he could add some much-needed quality and depth to the midfield position.
