Celtic fans take to Twitter in a state upon hearing of Benkovic setback

Celtic fans haven’t been enjoying this season quite as much as they have the last few. The Hoops’ away form has been shambolic and with Rangers looking like giving them a run for their money this season the last thing they needed was a major injury. However, that’s exactly what they’ve got as Filip Benkovic could have played his last game for the club.

The Croatian centre-back was signed on-loan from Leicester over the summer and he’s been a revelation at Parkhead so far. However, if the big man’s injury is as serious as is feared, with reports in The Scottish Sun saying it’s a bad one, Brendan Rodgers will have a serious dilemma on his hands. The Hoops have already moved to bring in two strikers this month in the form of Timothy Weah and Vakoun Issouf Bayo, yet they may need to act in the market again now.

The Hoops have spent the majority of the season calling for Benkovic to be signed permanently after every performance he’s put in, but with his injury being one that will keep him out until the end of the season, he’ll be returning to his parent club and will likely never play another game for the Hoops. This could be a major blow in their title hopes and something that will need to be addressed quickly and effectively by Rodgers if he wants to keep his season from being derailed.

The Bhoys will be absolutely fuming if they don’t bring anyone in to cover for Benkovic and this could be a problem that derails their season entirely if not resolved quickly.
