As the European transfer window came to a close, Sky Sports were among several media outlets to report that a deal for the French midfielder was progressing well.
The report claimed that a medical and agreement over a transfer fee had been agreed prior to deadline day, but Sky Sports then revealed that a deal had collapsed, with Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano claiming the deal had broken down due to payment problems.
Bayern Munich coach Hansi Flick later claimed otherwise prior to Cuisance’s move to French side Marseille.
No failed medical according to Cuisance
Upon joining the Ligue 1 outfit, the youngster spoke with RMC Sport and was quizzed on his failed move to the Elland Road club.
Replying to the query, he said: “Not from my end, anyways. Beyond that, I don’t know anything from the negotiations”.
Failing to sign Cuisance meant that Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa did not sign a new midfielder before deadline day, although a link to Norwich City’s Todd Cantwell continues to be heard in various media outlets.
Time to forget Cuisance and move on
Whilst Cuisance could have been a good signing for Leeds, fans of the Whites may be little concerned that they have not signed the youngster.
The Premier League season has started well for the Yorkshire club and Bielsa’s summer spending of just under £100m has seen a number of significant names arrive, including former Valencia striker Rodrigo Moreno and defender Diego Llorente, who arrived from Real Sociedad.
Therefore, if Leeds can maintain their good start throughout the season, the failure to land Cuisance could soon become forgotten.
