According to The Express, West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini has highlighted the areas in which he seeks to strengthen his club in January.

The Chilean has highlighted that the club needs to address the fullback positions as well as finding a new creative midfielder.

However, one area in which he has said he needs to focus on is bringing in a new striker. Now this may surprise some West Ham fans as they already seem to have a number of players in this position.

Marko Arnautović is the incumbent striker at the London Stadium currently and is the talisman of The Hammers. But in the Austrian's absence in recent weeks, Javier Hernández and Lucas Pérez have deputised for the big striker very well. This seemed to quell any rumours that the Mexican would be departing in January, as it was speculated that this would happen at the beginning of the season given his inability to break into The Irons' first team.

But with Pellegrini saying that he needs new a new striker, he may be revealing that Chicharito is still on his way out of the club in January. Therefore with only Pérez and Andy Carroll behind Arnautović at the London Stadium, West Ham do suddenly look slightly thin on the ground in this position, particularly given the injury prone nature of Carroll, And the fact that Arnautović has already spent time on the sidelines this season.

This will disappoint some West Ham fans but Pellegrini may have already revealed the fate of Hernández at the London Stadium.
