Yesterday saw Tottenham make continue their winning run in the 2018/19 season when they beat Fulham 3-1 thanks to goals from Lucas Moura, Kieran Trippier and Harry Kane, but one of the best things about the day for the Lillywhites was seeing Toby Alderweireld complete 90 minutes.

Over the summer it looked very much like Alderweireld’s Tottenham career would come to an end after three very impressive years in North London, however, a move away from N17 failed to materialise and it looks like Mauricio Pochettino is holding true to his claims that every player gets a clean slate this season as the big Belgian defender was thrown in for the full 90 alongside his countryman, Jan Vertonghen and young Davinson Sanchez.
Tottenham fans will be over the moon that they’ve still got Alderweireld on board and his presence at the heart of Poch’s defence is invaluable to the side. Now, though, plenty of supporters are keen to see Alderweireld commit his long-term future to the club by having him sign a new deal that doesn’t include a release clause. the Belgian’s current deal expires next summer but the club have the option to extend by one year, although, if they take that one-year extension it will activate a £25 million release clause which would definitely see him leave.

The fans will be anxious to see if Alderweireld does sign a new contract at the club, but for now, they’re just pleased to see him back in the side.
