Tottenham fans on Twitter were far from pleased to see Vorm start yesterday

Tottenham made the short trip from North London to Vicarage Road yesterday as they took on Watford in their fourth Premier League clash of the season. Both teams were looking to follow up on their 100% records after winning their first three and ultimately, it was Spurs who faltered. However, the fans weren’t happy with the fact that Michel Vorm started between the sticks.

The loss to Watford was not Vorm’s fault in the slightest, in fact, the Dutch stopper actually had quite a good game. There was nothing that could be done about either of the goals he shipped and he was dominant and consistent in claiming crosses throughout the game. It simply wasn’t to be, though, and the flat Lilywhites lacked creativity as they succumbed to Watford’s brute-force game plan.

Spurs took the lead through an Abdoulaye Doucoure own-goal and looked like they might hold on for three points at one stage. Then, Javi Gracia opted to bring on Isaac Success from the bench and he proved to be the difference maker. Goals from Troy Deeney and Craig Cathcart from centre-back proved to be decisive and Mauricio Pochettino’s side fell to an early season defeat. Although the fans would have instantly been more confident had either Hugo Lloris or Paulo Gazzaniga started.

The fans would much rather see Gazzaniga in Lloris’absence, even though it wasn’t the Dutchman’s fault yesterday.
