Many Tottenham fans are calling for Gazzaniga to replace injured Lloris against Watford

Tottenham supporters have been in high spirits in the Transfer Tavern in recent times after seeing their side maintain their 100% start to the Premier League season on Monday night.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men went into their clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford off the back of wins over Newcastle United and Fulham in their opening two games, and thus full of confidence ahead of their trip to face the Red Devils. And the North Londoners produced an excellent display as a brace from Lucas Moura after a Harry Kane header sealed a comprehensive 3-0 victory for Spurs, thus sending out quite the statement of intent to their title rivals.

As such, there have been many thrilled Tottenham fans up and down the country in recent times, although they are unlikely to be overly pleased with recent news from manager Pochettino regarding the fitness of goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

The France international kept a clean sheet at Old Trafford on Monday night but the Spurs chief has confirmed that he will miss the trip to Watford on Sunday, citing a thigh problem.

And while the news that they will be missing their number one shot-stopper is unlikely to delight too many Spurs fans, several have taken to Twitter recently to express their view on who should replace the World Cup between the sticks.

And despite Michel Vorm seeming to be the number two goalkeeper at the club, having made the bench in their opening three Premier League games, many are calling for £20,000-a-week Paulo Gazzaniga (as per Spotrac) to replace Lloris at Vicarage Road this weekend…
