Loads of West Ham fans are slamming the display of Arthur Masuaku against Arsenal, with one even calling him the ‘worst footballer I’ve ever seen’.
The Hammers looked to be heading towards a crucial three points at half-time in Monday night’s clash against the Gunners, but a total collapse in the second half may well have put Manuel Pellegrini on the brink.
That collapse started with the introduction of Masuaku, who was brought on as a substitute when Aaron Cresswell went off injured.
Cresswell had kept Nicolas Pepe completely quiet through the first 45 minutes, but the Ivory Coast international grabbed a goal and assist after the Englishman went off.
The Arsenal winger put the Gunners in front after Gabriel Martinelli had squared things up, cutting inside Masuaku with relative ease and curling a fine effort into the far corner.
The left-back then allowed Pepe to cut inside onto his strong foot once again, and he assisted the final goal from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Per Sofascore, Masuaku won just two duels during his time on the pitch, and fans have crucified his display on Twitter…

A list of defenders better at defending than Masuaku:
1/ Guy Demel
2/ George McCartney
3/ Joey O’Brien
4/ Razvan Rat
5/ Carl Jenkinson
The list goes on… #WHUARS

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Masuaku is the worst fullback in the league. Utter liability, at fault for 2 goals. Creswell had Pepe in his pocket, Masuaku gives him the freedom of East London.

Masuaku had been on the pitch for less than 20 minutes and managed to let his winger cut onto his stronger foot and score/assist twice 🤨

If Pellegrini gets sacked, the first order of business for the next hammers manager is to get rid of Masuaku. Guy made Pepe look world class.

And this is why we don’t play Masuaku. Cresswell had Pepe in his pocket. Masuaku has been torn apart by him #WHUFC

Should West Ham sign Asmir Begovic?
