Prominent journalist casts fresh doubt over Bilic’s job

Our West Ham fans are feeling decidedly flustered today after hearing prominent journalist Tony Evans’ words to BBC Radio 5 Live suggesting Slaven Bilic’s job is still far from safe.

The Hammers have not had the season they would have liked but in recent weeks things have certainly improved.

Last time out, of course, they lost to Manchester United but before then they beat the likes of Swansea, Hull City and Burnley to record vital wins.

Many here in the bar felt that that had eased the pressure on the Irons’ Croatian boss but it appears that that is wide of the mark – according to Evans at least. The journalist said:
“He’s under an awful lot of pressure there. There’s tension and animated discussions going into the transfer window.

“Before Christmas he was in a very precarious position and they won a couple of games at home, I don’t think it’s made Bilic as safe as people think.”

These words have certainly caused a few shock-waves to go around the Transfer Tavern with many thinking Bilic would now be safe for this season at least.

It could just be that he’s still teetering over the abyss, though, and so our resident Hammers will be watching their games even closer than usual to see any indicators of the pressure Evans has referred to.
