If you’re a West Brom fan in the Tavern right now, it’s safe to say you’re probably feeling fairly positive about the season ahead.
The Baggies supporters are always a pretty friendly bunch and their team is currently sat in a lofty ninth position going into the international break.
Good wins against Crystal Palace and West Ham have helped their cause, with that being followed up by two successive 1-1 draws against Stoke City and Sunderland respectively.
Even the landlord in here in the Tavern is quietly confident that Tony Pulis’ side can do well this campaign.
And with the season now in full swing, we’re beginning to discover who the game changers are going to be in the West Ham side as the campaign progresses.
But there have also been some weak links in this squad too – players that really need to step up their form based on what we’ve already seen on the pitch.
So with that in mind, here’s the two players Pulis must drop in every game from now on…
Allan Nyom
The former Granada man arrived at the Hawthorns this summer, having made the move from fellow Premier League outfit Watford.
He played plenty of games for the Hornets last season too, featuring 36 times in all competitions for former boss Quique Sanchez. But despite signing a four-year-deal, he was sold on to the West Midlands outfit.
But it’s not been all that good from Nyom this season and he particularly struggled in the 1-1 draw with Sunderland this weekend.
He’s good going forward but defensively he has looked susceptible at times this season. He comes across as a somewhat clumsy defender and we think a spell on the sidelines might be good for the 28-year-old.
Matt Phillips
Former QPR man Matt Phillips still looks like he’s finding his feet in the Midlands after a summer move to the Hawthorns.
He is yet to score in five appearances for Tony Pulis’ side and in the past couple of games – he’s been extremely quiet on the Baggies flank.
Phillips also had a poor day against Stoke last week and did little to create chances against Sunderland this time out either.
With Hal Robson-Kanu waiting in the wings, it’s difficult to see Phillip’s keeping his place in the side if he can’t step it up extremely quickly.
