Rafa’s Replacement?

Amidst much weeping, wailing and a healthy slug of recrimination it appears that the managerial wheels are slowly but all too surely beginning to fall off.

“I decided to sign an extension here because the squad was good and the money could be there. But in the end, things have changed.”

“Last year, I decided to stay, under some conditions, but they have changed. I left my job at Valencia because the conditions changed. Now they’ve changed at Liverpool.” Rafa Benitez.

The first credible name through the door is that of one time Premiership supremo, Martin Cornelius Jol.  To refer to the guy as the former Spurs manager does him no credit. Since his ‘Night Of The Long Knives’ style exit from White Hart Lane where he achieved two back to back 5th place finishes, he has been a success at both Hamburg and now at Ajax.

In fairness, Big Martin has been a work in process. His win percentage as a manager showing a steady progression. Tottenham 45.27%, Hamburg 60.38 and Ajax  74.47%.

“It is an honour for me to be linked with a move to a top club like Liverpool”. Martin Jol.

Certainly not the world beater that many would want, but it could equally be asked, ‘who the hell is Roy Hodgeson?’

Well now, when it comes to football, one man has for many years been the most noticeable, the most controversial, and occasionally the most successful blogger this country has ever produced. His pithy words and abrasive style make him as famous off the pitch as he is on it. This man is Escapini. "I love football. Football she's a cruel mistress. She's, she's more than a mistress. She's a wife, she's a mother, she's a daughter, she's an errant child. She's a… she's a… she can make you laugh, she make you cry. She can bring tears me eyes. She can bring blood to me shoulders. She can bring a kettle to the boil." "Cause football is about nothing, unless it's about something and what it is about, is football."
