Journalist Fraser Fletcher has claimed that 16-year-old striker Zak Lovelace could make a breakthrough into Rangers’ first-team this season after impressing since arriving at Ibrox this summer.

The highly precocious youngster broke into Millwall’s first-team last season, becoming the second youngest player in the club’s history.
Following his debut in December, the 16-year-old went on to make a further four appearances for the English Championship outfit, before Rangers completed a deal to bring him to Ibrox three weeks ago.
Although the teenager joined the Gers’ academy setup, some have high hopes that he could soon be destined for even greater strides…
The Latest: Fletcher’s claim on Lovelace
Fletcher has dropped a big claim about Lovelace after witnessing his progress in pre-season for Rangers, for whom he scored twice in a 3-2 behind-closed-doors friendly win over Queen’s Park on Sunday.
Taking to Twitter after the game, the journalist stated: “Two goals for Zak Lovelace today in closed doors friendly for Rangers.
“Reminder youngster made debut at 15 years old at Millwall and made move this summer to Glasgow. Much anticipated talent and no surprises if he makes first team this season”

The Verdict: Huge talent
Millwall defender Murray Wallace has tipped Lovelace to become a future star at Rangers, with the teenage striker having turned down Premier League interest to seal a move to Ibrox.
Speaking with Football Scotland, he said: “It’s a good signing for Rangers. He’s got all the attributes to be a top player. He’s quick and has good feet… He’s definitely one of the best young players I’ve worked with.”

With Antonio Colak having taken the number nine shirt in Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s squad this summer, it may be a while until we see Lovelace step out for the first-team in competitive action.
However, with Fletcher tipping the 16-year-old to be given his chance at senior level during the 2022/23 campaign, this appears to be a fabulous coup for the Light Blues.
