Rashford out: 54% of Man Utd fans want him to be replaced by £40.5m-rated 20-year-old

The Man Utd fans in the Transfer had high hopes for Marcus Rashford when he burst onto the scene. That potential is far from gone, but it’s fair to say that it has settled somewhat over the last year.

Jose Mourinho has often failed to start him since his arrival, and he has been impacted by that.

We recently made the case that it might be time to replace him at Old Trafford, with 20-year-old Leon Bailey currently showing more potential than the homegrown man.

We asked fans whether a move to replace Rashford with Bailey – who is rated at £40.5 million by Transfer Markt – would be wise, and the results were very interesting. 54% of Man Utd fans appear to be in favour of a move, whilst 46% are against the prospect.

Whilst, clearly, the results are tight, they do throw up a few interesting ideas.

Despite his homegrown status, Man Utd fans are clearly turning against Rashford somewhat, and that’s a surprise. Normally, homegrown players are always defended, but it doesn’t appear as though he is unanimously supported.

Of course, Bailey himself has been sensational over the last year, and so fans are clearly well aware of that. When you compare them, Bailey looks like the better player – and so you can certainly see why some are hoping the club sign him.

The World Cup could be crucial for Rashford, as a poor campaign could turn fans against him – whilst a strong one could force Mourinho to take notice.
