This summer looks set to be a big one for Arsenal as Arsene Wenger looks to unearth some new talent, starting with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The Southampton youngster will be one of many acquisitions in an attempt to prevent the club being left behind its rivals.
The 17-year-old has been linked with Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and of course Manchester City throughout the season. It is now only the big clubs in England chasing his signature according to Itasportpress, who have reported interest from Italian giants Juventus and AC Milan. Alex’s father, former England international Mark Chamberlain is keen for his son to join the Emirates club.
Speaking to the media regarding his son’s future, Mark Chamberlain said:
“Considering where he was at the beginning of the season and end of last season, to have the clubs we’ve been hearing about looking at him, he’s made great strides.
“But watching him and watching his performances I think it’s well deserved. He’s only going to get better.
“A lot of people speak to me and say ‘Maybe it’s too soon, look at Theo.’ But for me I think Theo’s doing fantastic, he’s developing as a player, he’s still developing and he’s only young.
“To develop at a place like Arsenal can’t be a bad thing. In my eyes, I’d like him to go there as soon as possible, and continue his development.”
Similarities with Theo Walcott have been surrounding the player ever since he broke into the first team this season due to his playing style and obviously like Theo, starting out at The Saints. Arsene Wenger and staff are world renowned for their development of youngsters and of course the willingness to provide them with first team action. This has often been a criticism of the Emirates boss but it seems as though he is not willing to give up on his philosophy just yet.
Itasportpress reports have suggested a bidding war could be set to happen this summer by some the biggest clubs in European football. It is believed though that the player and his father are keen on a move to North London which could see Arsenal capturing the next England superstar.
