The Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that Daniel Levy will splash the cash on new talent this summer, but a recent report suggests he may not be focussing his interest on the right players.
Following weeks of speculation linking Spurs with a move for Anthony Martial, the club were linked with a different attacking wide player yesterday. According to German media outlet Sport Bild, Tottenham are interested in signing Ante Rebic from Eintracht Frankfurt when he eventually completes his permanent move to the Bundesliga outfit from Fiorentina on July 1st for a fee of just £1.8 million.
The report claims that Eintracht Frankfurt would demand at least 30 million euros (£26 million) from Tottenham who are facing competition from Huddersfield for his signature.
The proposed deal seems rather bizarre considering the 25-year-old Croatia international, who is currently at the World Cup, is set to complete a permanent move on July 1st, but after spending 2 years on loan at the Waldstadion, he could be tempted into a new challenge in the Premier League.
And although Eintracht will be eager to keep hold of the winger, the prospect of making a profit of almost £25 million will certainly carry a huge weight of appeal.

Our landlord believes that Tottenham need to be aiming higher in the transfer market if they wish to compete for honours next season, as Rebic only managed to score 6 goals and provide 3 assists from 25 Bundesliga outings last season.
Whilst the record is certainly not a poor one, it’s relatively modest for a side who harbour genuine ambitions of mounting a title challenge.
Considering Pochettino already has the likes of Erik Lamela, Heung-min Son, Lucas Moura to call upon in wide positions, the club will need to ensure they are signing a player of immense quality before adding another winger to their ranks.
