West Ham United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be looking for the club to bring in a number of players this summer as Manuel Pellegrini begins his reign, however, it appears one target will not be joining the Chilean at the London Stadium.
According to a report on The West Ham Way, it has been claimed that the Hammers have no interest in bringing Yaya Toure to east London due to his age and lack of pace.
The Ivorian is a free agent this summer after it was revealed his contract at Manchester City would not be renewed, however, the Irons do not appear to be a possible destination for him at the moment.
Pellegrini is keen to add a number of players to his squad to help them play attractive football as they look to mount a challenge for European football and it appears that Toure does not fit the bill.
Landlord’s Verdict
The former Ivory Coast international has plenty of experience in the Premier League, having won the competition a couple of times – including once with Pellegrini – and the locals would have felt that he could have had an impact as a squad player.
However, with fears looming over his age and diminishing physical qualities, the resident Hammers faithful can understand why the club are eager to turn their attention elsewhere.
