Reports in the Telegraph are suggesting that Manchester United are tracking the progress of the ‘new’ Javier Hernandez. United scouts have been sent to watch young Erick Torres who has replaced the fantastic Chicharito at Chivas Guadalajara as the new striking sensation.
After the success of Javier Hernandez, it seems as though Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to bring in another Mexican import from the same club. The 18-year-old striker has made a big impact for Chivas this season, earning himself a place in the Mexico Under-20 squad in the Toulon tournament this summer.
The youngster is showing similar qualities in terms of movement and goal scoring ability that has defined Chicharito’s impressive first season in England. Similarities with his Mexican compatriot are not just on the pitch as the Chivas striker boasts his own unique nickname as he often referred to as ‘El Cubo’.
It is unlikely that Ferguson will be looking to move for the striker this summer as he has a wealth of attacking talent available to him but if other teams start to show an interest he might have no other choice. The Premier League champions have developed a strong relationship with Chivas since the transfer of Hernandez which will undoubtedly work in their favour should any other clubs make a move for the striker.
Instead of making the dream move straight to Old Trafford this summer, it would be more likely that Torres would be loaned back out to Chivas for the time being.
If Ferguson’s scouts like what they see this summer at the Toulon tournament from the young Mexican then there could be a very Latin American strike force at Old Trafford in the future.
