Rose would be incredibly silly to leave Spurs for China, here’s 3 reasons why…

Our Spurs fans here in the Transfer Tavern can’t quite believe what they’ve been reading recently as, according to The Evening Standard, Danny Rose is a target for Chinese club Shanghai SIPG.

Spurs are flying in the Premier League at the moment with them and Arsenal looking like the main contenders to Chelsea for the title.

The Lilywhites will need to close up a nine point gap to the Blues if they’re to win the league, though, and so keeping their best players will be vital to any success.

Certainly, Rose is one of their top stars and has really stepped up a level this season to become, arguably, the best left back in the league.

Spurs will obviously want to keep him, then, whilst our landlord reckons Rose should want to stay at the Lane too.

That in mind, then, here are three reasons why the left back would be silly to leave Spurs…

Spurs are title challengers

Spurs’ title challenge last season is proving not to be a one-off and the club really do look like genuine title contenders for this and the coming seasons.

Playing for the biggest trophies in football is not an opportunity that can simply be thrown away and, whilst some players have done that recently, it’s one most players should cherish. Rose doesn’t seem like the kind of player to want to give up on the Premier League for money and Spurs will hope so too.

Champions League football

Even if Spurs do not win the league this season they’ve got a very good chance of competing in the Champions League next year.

This season’s campaign in the premier European competition was far from ideal for the Lilywhites but they’re bound to be wanting to prove themselves if they make it next year and Rose will want to be a part of that. Chinese football can’t offer anywhere near that level of football and our landlord doubts it will for a very long time at least.

England chances

We’re of no doubt that Rose would excel over in China and likely be one of the biggest stars in the league there but is Gareth Southgate going to want to select him for England?

Right now he is nailed on as the Three Lions’ first choice left sided defender but if he moves to China he’s going to be coming up against far less skillful opposition – harming his sharpness at the very highest level. Ryan Bertrand will still be in this division for Southampton, you’d think, and would surely get the nod over Rose in this eventuality.
